Rights of Service Users

  • All service users have a right to know and understand all rules of the organization providing services to which they must abide.                 
  • All service users have a right to make their own decisions, within the rules and policies of the organization.
  • All service users have a right to access to their individual records.
  • All service users have the right to give suggestions and input concerning program and service, to have the input heard, and to receive feedback on it.
  • All service users have the right to have complaints concerning program and services heard.  The first step is to take the complaint to the program staff.  If no resolution is reached, the service user has the right to address her complaint through the grievance procedure of the New Hampshire Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence.  The Coalition can be reached at 603.224.8893.
  • All service users have a right to respectful treatment of confidential information.
  • Principles of obligation for task forces are:
    • All service users should be made aware of their rights
    • Volunteers should be trained in service users rights.

All services are free and confidential.  Services are provided to all survivors, their families and the community of domestic abuse and stalking regardless of gender, age, health status (including HIV positive), physical, mental or emotional disability, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, race, national origin, immigration status, or religious and political affiliation.
